Now that I’ve had two days of Wimba training, what’s next? The first day of training gave me an idea of the faculty/presenter experience. We learned how to upload files to our live classroom, how to use the eBoard (a virtual whiteboard), how to use the video and audio features, how to do a quick poll, and how to archive our live session.
Day 2 was aimed toward the technical support staff. We learned how to create users (rooms and presenters), how to assign access (room IDs), and how to get technical support online. We also discussed naming conventions to make finding rooms easier.
The next step will be to have a follow-up meeting with the faculty that attended day 1 to ask for feedback on how they envision using the Wimba software.
In the meantime, I hope to get back into the Wimba environment and practice what I learned. It’s going to take some time to get familiar with all the bells and whistles that are available.
